North Star OutfittersWild Hog Hunting

North Star Outfitters provides an exciting hog hunt
with a comfortable stay in a great setting.

Wild hog hunting at night is an experience like no other, and it's the best time to see the animals because it's when they're the most active. But to actually "see" the hogs at night without startling them takes the right equipment. So at North Star Outfitters, we've setup each stand and feeder with special lights.

At the feeders, which are about twenty yards from each stand, we use green bait lights that don't bother the animals, but are just bright enough to give you a good idea of what's going on. Then when you see the right hog, each stand has a red, directional light that's mounted, but moveable. These lights also have a rheostat on them so they can be turned up just enough for you to pick your target and take a shot.

Our all-inclusive wild hog hunting package is offered on the weekends year round, and includes meals, lodging and guide services. There are no trophy fees. All you need is your hunting equipment. We have twelve sturdy, well-constructed stands throughout the property and six of them are double-seaters.

A weekend of wild hog hunting at North Star Outfitters starts when you check in Friday afternoon. If you can, arrive early enough to warm up at the archery range. Then about an hour before dusk, we drive out to the stands and the hunt begins.

bowhunting After dark, the automatic feeders will drop corn once an hour for about four hours. Because the feeders run all year long, you're sure to see plenty of activity. The Bag limit is one hog per night, and after you get a hit, call us and we'll track and field dress it before we store it in the walk-in cooler. Because we have so many hogs, most hunters are done well before midnight. So after you've been picked up, there's still time to relax around the outdoor fire pit before turning in.

Saturday morning starts with breakfast, but then it's up to you to decide how to spend your day. You can relax inside our luxurious lodge watching TV or playing pool and poker. Or you can go outside to play horseshoes, practice at the archery range, or fish the lake for trophy bass. (Catch and release only please.) We serve a light lunch, but if you like, the town of Tyler is nearby with plenty of good restaurants and other things to do.

Saturday evening about an hour before dusk starts another hunt like the night before. On Sunday morning, we provide breakfast, and we can also help set you up with a taxidermist or meat processor in the area. Most of our clients have at least one kill to show for their weekend of wild hog hunting, and many will get two. There's also a pretty good chance you'll come across that big trophy boar your looking for, because there are plenty of them out here.
